Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan is the oldest festival of Hindustani Classical Music in the world, which is celebrated every year at the sacred seat of music, the samadhi of Baba Harivallabh – a saint and an exponent of Hindustani Classical Music. The first Sammelan was held in 1875 at the Sidh Peeth-Shri Devi Talab, in Jalandhar. Since then it has been held every year.
“Shree Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Mahasabha”, Jalandhar is totally dedicated to the preservation, propagation and promotion of Indian Classical Music.The Mahasabha has been organising the World-famous Shree Baba Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan every year since 1875 The Harivallabh Sangeet Mahasabha is committed to preserving and promoting India’s rich and vibrant artistic heritage in the fields of Classical Music & Dance. The main aim of the festival is to attract and encourage more and more people for the development of classical Music. There is also a proper syllabus for the pursuers of Music and there is a shrine at the banks of the sarovar with the name Devi Talab. There is a Shiva lingam in the temple nearby and one adores the exquisite phallic image of Lord Shiva.
This Sammelan is organised during the last week-end of December every year at the sacred seat of music – the ‘Samadhi’ of Shree Baba Harivallabh Ji at Devi Talab, Jalandhar. This Sangeet Sammelan has been attracting audiences from all across the country and abroad. The Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan provides an opportunity for the music lovers to meet 15 to 20 top and upcoming artists at one place every year and to hear them LIVE during this three-day long festival. Almost, all prominent artists of Indian Classical Music “name any” have performed on this pious Manch at one time.

The Harivallabh Sangeet Sammelan, a prestigious music festival, was honored by Mahatma Gandhi’s visit in 1919. Each year, the festival attracts Union Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, and other VIPs, who come to pay homage to the saint-musician Shree Baba Harivallabh Ji. This event continues to be a significant cultural and spiritual gathering, celebrating Indian classical music and unity.
